Journalism: considerations on press freedom on the 175th anniversary of Joseph Pulitzer’s birth
August 2022, Anghiari
In conjunction with Joseph Pulitzer's 175th birthday, for two days Anghiari turns into an international stage from which winners of the prestigious award will share with the public their professional experience.
A photographic exhibition will also be held with some of the images awarded the Pulitzer Prize in recent years. When speaking about press, however, one cannot fail to highlight how endangered press freedom is: the right to freely express one's thoughts in speech, writing and any other means, without needing prior authorization or fearing to be censored, as enshrined in Article 21 of the Italian Constitution, is increasingly at risk, especially in these recent weeks. Journalists will join the event to report about the intimidations, threats, often even attacks they have suffered in the attempt to stop them doing their job.
